Media in Britain
Course Description:
Offers students the opportunity to explore British media organizations as social, economic, and cultural entities and examines specific determinants and processes of production. Areas of study include broadcasting, the film industry, the press, and the “convergent” new media of digital television and the Internet. As popular perceptions of the media often revolve around the excitement, glamour, creativity, and controversy generated by the media, this course attempts to separate myths from reality and to give students a pragmatic way of approaching what the British media are about and what working for them entails.
