Course Title:
The Criminal Mind: Theory and Practice from the United States and United Kingdom
Course Description:
Seeks to enable students to understand and assess for themselves the roles played by biology and social background in the evolution of some of the most notorious and deviant criminal minds. Dives into past criminals who paved the way for today’s gurus of crime. Applies underpinning theoretical issues and assessment tools to a wide range of case studies to illustrate and reinforce the broader principles of modern criminology. Topics covered include serial killers, children who kill, and psychopaths, to list a few. The classes are a lively mix of teaching, analysis, video, and debate. Students use forensic techniques and visits to a university forensic laboratory for hands-on experience.
