Contemporary British Cinema
Course Description:
Provides an overview of British film from the last generation with special focus on the themes of humor, social comment, patriotism, and colonialism. Special reference is made to cutting-edge British filmmakers. Is British behavior influenced by British film? How important are British actors in major Hollywood productions? Practical and artistic issues explored include the funding of British cinema, film as a reflection of current events, and the relationship between script and cinema. Film viewings are followed by in-depth discussions. Includes some “R-” rated films.
