Course Title:
Health Care of Urban Populations
Course Description:
Provides students with an opportunity to explore the body of urban health research to identify key themes, conceptual foundations, and contemporary research findings. Examines integration of cultural and community contextual factors that affect the health status of urban populations. These include racial, ethnic, and economic health disparities; influences of the urban physical environment and the urban social environment; and the availability of and access to health and social services. Studies the influence of concepts such as vulnerability, underserved, culture, ethnicity, poverty, discrimination, disparities in health care, urbanization, diversity, social determinants of health, environmental justice, and migration on health status.
