Examines the rise of Protestantism and the Reformation, Confucianism and the Asian Tigers, and Islam and capitalism. Covers the rise of so-called fundamentalism in a number of formal religions. Examines the economic, political, and cultural contexts of this emergence and the debates and discourses that critique modernity.
