Course Title:
Primary Care and Psychiatric Integration Practicum-Adult
Course Description:
Provides a clinical learning experience with a focus on health problems particular to the aging client/family in the community and in long-term care facilities. Students care for gerontological patients, emphasizing the integration of comprehensive care addressing physical and mental health concerns. Focuses weekly seminar discussions on the application of theory to health problems with this population. Emphasizes interdisciplinary role responsibility and the legal, ethical, and professional boundaries to practice circumscribed by the various roles of the primary care nurse practitioner and the psychiatric mental health specialist. Integrates such issues as policies affecting practice, standards of care within primary care nursing and psychiatric mental health nursing, access, quality, and outcome of care.
