Primary Care of Well Infants, Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults
Course Description:
Focuses on the health assessment of newborns, well children, and adolescents and their families. Discusses issues most pertinent to the various ages of the well child within a primary-care framework of anticipatory guidance and health promotion. Emphasis is on the utilization of a comprehensive approach to preventive health care by examining the impact of psychological, sociological, developmental, cultural, and physiological factors on the child’s health status. Topics include routine health-care maintenance, screening, developmental issues, family dynamics, confidentiality, self-care, community supports, and common health concerns encountered in the primary-care setting.
