Central and Eastern Europe in World Affairs
Course Description:
Reviews the origins, character, and impact of satellization by the Soviet Union after World War II; analyzes the roots and causes of the collapse of Soviet power in the region in 1989 and 1990; and examines the region’s strategic, economic, and diplomatic interests in the current postcommunist era. Emphasis is on the region’s relations with Russia, Germany, France, and the United States.
