Legislation
Course Description:
Deals with the distinctive nature of legislation as a source of law. Topics for study include the legislative process, the role of legislatures, and the theory and practice of statutory interpretation. Course materials and lectures are based in part on case studies taken from recent Supreme Court and congressional actions, particularly in the area of civil rights. One session is a simulated legislative session. Requires several short legislative drafting assignments.
