Calculus 2
Course Description:
Retired August 31, 2005; replaced by MTH 4243 in the School of Professional and Continuing Studies. Continues MTH E241. Expands concepts of integration to include differentiation and integration of natural logarithmic and exponential functions applied to growth and decay, and integration of inverse trigonometric functions. Studies techniques of integration including parts, partial fractions, substitution, tables, L’Hôpital’s rule, and improper integrals. Evaluates areas and volumes. Introduces multivariable calculus with emphasis on functions, graphs, partial derivatives, and double integrals applied to areas and volumes. Includes ratio test and Taylor and Maclaurin polynomials. Concludes with solving differential equations including first-order variables separable, first-order linear, and second-order linear homogeneous equations with applications. Requires students to purchase a graphing calculator, the make and model to be specified at the first class meeting.
