Course Description:
Introduces clinical virology with the focus on the approach used in a clinical virology laboratory to isolate and identify viruses of pathogenic significance. After a general review of the principles of virology, each class of viruses is discussed as they relate to structure, replication mechanisms, pathogenic mechanisms, identification, and treatment protocols.
