Retired Courses - by College/School

Course Number:
EET E201
Credit Hours:
4
Course Title:
Circuit Analysis 1
Course Description:
Retired August 31, 2005; replaced by ETE 4201 in the School of Professional and Continuing Studies. Defines circuit variables of current, voltage, power, and energy. Introduces basic circuit theory laws, such as Ohm’s law, Kirchhoff’s laws, Thevenin and Norton’s theorems, and superposition, and applies them to DC circuits. Explores the energy storage devices, capacitors, and inductors. Introduces mesh and nodal analysis for solution of more complex circuits. Discusses operational amplifiers from a terminal point of view. The transient response of RC and RL circuits are developed by solution of first-order differential equations. Using second-order differential equations, solutions are developed for parallel and series RLC circuits. Introduces solutions of AC circuits by frequency domain methods. The basic circuit laws are applied to AC circuits using phasor algebra. Develops the concepts of impedance and admittance. Introduces computer-assisted solutions using simulation software.
