Course Title:
Integrated Circuits for Communications and Mixed-Signal Processing
Course Description:
Covers the analysis and design of ICs for wireless communications and mixed-signal processing. Focuses on function and performance of CMOS and BiCMOS and implementations of these systems‘ building blocks. Topics include devices and passive R, L, C elements for RFICs; HF amplifiers and neutralization, circuit noise, and optimized LNA design; frequency conversion for superheterodyne receivers, frequency converters for analog/digital modulation and demodulation; oscillators, resonator-based designs, VCOs and PLLs, and frequency synthesis; RF power amplifiers-classes and performance; filters for baseband and RF, design approaches, integrated filters including L-C, OTA/MOSFET-C, and switched-C; data conversion, DAC and ADC characteristics, popular DAC architectures, serial and parallel ADCs, high-speed resolution techniques. Course requirements include a verification review of a selected technical paper publication.
