Course Title:
Bio IT Methods 2-Protein Structure and Systems
Course Description:
Offers an opportunity to learn to understand and work with current and evolving theoretical methods, computational algorithms, and bioinformatics client and server software for three areas of bioinformatics and computational biology: 1) structural analysis of proteins, with aspects of protein/gene evolutionary relationships; 2) methods for microarray expression data analysis and data mining; 3) systems biology methods to analyze biomolecule interactions and metabolic pathways. Additional topics include data storage, mining, and visualization. Includes lectures and extensive laboratory work for hands-on computer training using bioinformatics applications running under Linux/Windows.
