Course Title:
Bio IT Methods 1-Genome and Proteome Analysis
Course Description:
Offers an opportunity to learn to understand and work with current and evolving theoretical methods, computational algorithms, and bioinformatics client and server software for sequence analysis of proteins, RNA, and DNA. Topics include methods for pairwise and multiple-sequence alignments, hidden Markov models, protein family identification, biological databases, phylogeny, gene annotation, and comparative genome analysis. Includes lectures and extensive laboratory work for hands-on computer training using bioinformatics applications running under Linux/Windows.
