Computer Architecture
Course Description:
Retired August 31, 2005; replaced by ETC 4521 in the School of Professional and Continuing Studies. Demonstrates the integration of hardware design with customer specifications/requirements for a computing device. Introduces the notion of RISC vs. CISC architectural tradeoffs, and exposes the underlying structures of several popular CPUs. Register transfer notation (RTN) is explained and used to provide an assembly language explanation of a machine. Also includes the use of multiple data paths and pipelining.
