SLP in the Medical Settings
Course Description:
Prepares students for a potential career as a speech-language pathologist (SLP) in a medical setting working with patients across the life span. Topics include scope of practice, the team approach, third-party coverage/reimbursement, ethics, health-care reform, assessment of outcomes, documentation, care for the caregiver, and service delivery across the continuum of care. Addresses service delivery issues and concerns relevant to the following types of medical settings: acute care, acute rehabilitation, early intervention, chronic care, and home care.
