Course Description:
Explores various theories and issues related to alcoholism and other addictions. Focuses on skills to assess addictive behavior, how to take a drinking and drug history, work with denial, and make appropriate referral. Includes assignments to take a drinking and drug history and to attend a self-help group in the community. Discusses therapeutic issues that are relevant for health professionals in various general health-care settings.
