Course Title:
Epidemiology and Community Health
Course Description:
Examines the theoretical bases for identification and analysis of factors that promote or inhibit the health of populations and communities. Includes an examination of epidemiology, biostatistics, demography, environmental health, occupational health, and international health. Focuses on developing strategies to meet health problems and the advanced practice role of the nurse in community-based health care. Requires critical thinking and analysis of current research on disease trends, global health, population-specific demographics, and the impact on clinical practice. Also addresses the application of ethical principles to research on population groups and the politics of health policy development.
