Course Title:
Nursing with Acutely Ill Children and Families
Course Description:
Builds upon knowledge of normal growth and development, and the health needs of the well child to examine the impact of acute illness on the adaptation of children and their families. Emphasizes nursing strategies of caregiving that maximize the return to health of children and their families. Students explore evidenced-based practices within the framework of the nursing process. Clinical experiences in acute-care services for children are integral to the course. Students plan and implement caring interventions for children, including their family members, as appropriate.
