Course Description:
Explores a number of issues in numerical analysis by studying the numerical solution of differential equations. Begins with a rapid survey of ordinary differential equations, with an emphasis on boundary value problems, leading to the more difficult subject of partial differential equations. Considers finite element and multigrid methods, eigenvalue problems, optimization techniques, and the efficient processing of large systems.
