Course Title:
Bioinformatics Methods and Algorithms
Course Description:
Teaches current evolving theoretical methods and computational algorithms in four areas of bioinformatics and computational biology: sequence analysis of proteins, RNA, and DNA; structural analysis of proteins, with aspects of protein/gene evolutionary relationships; microarray expression data analysis and data mining; and systems biology including interactions of biomolecules and metabolic pathways. Additional topics include data storage, maintenance of biology databases, searches, visualization, and resource integration. Includes laboratory work for hands-on computer training using bioinformatics applications.
